This California Cottage from the 1930s is a tribute to creative permitting. LFH added an entire second story to the original foundation of this two-bedroom, one-bath family home, expanding the entrance way and dining room in order to accommodate a new staircase. The new upstairs features a master suite and bathroom and an additional bedroom.
This local Santa Barbara project was finished quickly with the help of seven subcontractors and the masterful architectural design work by Sven Larsen. Plenty of windows were built to capitalize on the beautiful views, and we oversaw extensive landscaping, hardscaping, outdoor shower and deck building.
How we managed to sidestep existing variance limitations remains a trade secret, but should go down in local lore as not only allowable – but admirable, as well.
